1. What brought you here?
ReplyDelete7 Quick Takes, and I like your name. A lot. :)
2. What brought you here? Figuratively, to who and where you are today.
Holy cow, who can answer that question on a blog comment? :) I'm a cradle Catholic who's gone through a rabid Republican phase and now has come to loathe all things political. I'm a liturgist, a writer and a mom who had infertility and then a child with Down syndrome, and there you have me in a nutshell. Does that answer the question?
3. Where are you from? Mid-Missouri.
4. Name a book (or two or three...) that has greatly impacted your life.
Is it shallow to say LotR, and Harry Potter? :)
5. What is your favorite Bible passage? Why?
Ps. 139 without a doubt. What mother could answer otherwise?
6. What is your favorite thing to do each day?
Write.
7. Do you have a spiritual workout suggestion? Please share!
Silence. Deep silence, away from city noise and traffic rumble. But it's hard to come by even here in mid-America.
8. Do you have a blog? Leave a link and let me know what you write about so I can check it out.
www.kathleenbasi.com/blog. It's subtitled "life at the intersection of faith, parenting and the written word," but I'd have to say that although I'm pretty eclectic, I reflect on life from a reasoned, rational point of view that is formed by my faith. Come on over! I spent this whole week on infertility, but that's not the usual subject matter.
1. What brought you here? Literally, to my blog.
ReplyDeleteA link from Quick Takes on Conversion Diary.
2. What brought you here? Figuratively, to who and where you are today.
I became a Christian about a year ago after a long period of agnosticism. I'm a protestant, but I'm very interested in Catholicism. I'm a university student in my early twenties.
3. Where are you from?
Canada.
4. Name a book (or two or three...) that has greatly impacted your life.
The Language of God by Francis S. Collins, The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton, Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, The Good Girl Revolution by Wendy Shalit, The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien . . . I think that was more than three. :P
5. What is your favorite Bible passage? Why?
Wow, difficult. For now I'll go with, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
6. What is your favorite thing to do each day?
Probably read. I love reading.
7. Do you have a spiritual workout suggestion? Please share!
Not at the moment, I just found this blog and I'm really enjoying reading through it. :)
8. Do you have a blog? Leave a link and let me know what you write about so I can check it out!
Yep, I just started up my blog. I'm writing about Protestantism and Catholicism, spiritual struggles, being a young Christian woman in a secular world, Christianity and mental illness . . . etc. Here's the link: http://shakenwiththewind.blogspot.com
1. What brought you here? I was reading http://elizabethhillgrove.blogspot.com/ and saw that she was following your blog and decided to check it out!
ReplyDelete2. What brought you here? It should be more like who? God. I was moving down a path far different from where I am now and rapidly away from Him. He brought me back.
3. Where are you from? A very very small town in Kansas! Currently I'm a student at The University of Kansas, Rock Chalk!
4. Name a book (or two or three...) that has greatly impacted your life: Let's go with Among the Hidden, this book instilled in me the first passion I had for the pro-life movement, I think I read it as a 4th grader!
5. What is your favorite Bible passage? Why?
Proverbs 17:17 "A friend is a friend at all times.." also translated "He who is a friend is always a friend..." This is how I try to live my life. What kind of friend would I be if I chose to only be a friend when it was easy and enjoyable for me.
6. What is your favorite thing to do each day?
Whenever I get to see or talk to some friends it turns my whole day around. Being in community is what we were made for.
7. Do you have a spiritual workout suggestion? Please share! I suggest sacrifice, anything really. We've been doing 'wheat' here preparing for a retreat. We've done things like the 'Heroic Minute', taking cold showers for a week and putting a quarter in our shoe.

The title explains it all. How can I better live my life as a Daughter of God especially at the college level?
1) What brought you here? Literally. My two sons also went to the focus conference in Baltimore and I wanted to hear more about it. I can't remember exactly how I found your blog but I am grateful because I really enjoy your writing.
ReplyDelete2) What brought you here? Figurately. The Dear Lord has lead me to homeschool my five children to bring them the faith and to challenge them accurately according to their God-given gifts.
3) Where are you from? I am from Damascus, Maryland: TERPS fans.
4) Name a book. Essential Writings by Chiara Lubich
5) Favorite Bible Passage & Why? "Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord." This is my favorite because while I was teaching my children one day, I was preparing to read them this verse (can't remember siting). Immediately right after I read this, the rain started pouring down in trenches!
6) Favorite thing to do each day? Read to my youngest children.
7) Do you have a spiritual workout suggestion? Say the rosary!!!!

Very, very short: I was raised as an evangelical christian, somehow ended up in the Catholic church and am now preparing for my confirmation during the Easter Vigil. I'm a booklover who was lucky enough to find a job in a publishing house. Mid-twenties, single, live on my own.
3. Where are you from?
I'm from Belgium.
4. Name a book (or two or three...) that has greatly impacted your life.
Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
5. What is your favorite Bible passage? Why?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. (Proverbs 3:5)
6. What is your favorite thing to do each day?
Go to bed? ;-) Talk to friends or family.
7. Do you have a spiritual workout suggestion? Please share!
